Fresh water and waste water

Fresh water tank

Clean water for the sink, shower and kettle. Most vans carry 40 to 120 litres, either inside or underneath. If you'll drink from it, choose a tank marked potable. You fill it with a hose through a filler point on the side of the van.

Waste (grey) water tank

Catches the water from your sink and shower. It's usually about half the size of the fresh tank, and most people fit it underneath. You empty it through a drain tap at a campsite waste point. It doesn't need to be potable.

About our campervan & motorhome water tanks

We supply a wide range of campervan and motorhome water tanks for reliable onboard fresh and grey water storage. Our range includes underslung, internal and wheel arch tanks in multiple sizes and shapes to suit a variety of vehicle layouts and self-build or professional conversions.

Manufactured in the UK from durable, WRAS-approved polyethylene, these tanks are built for long service life and dependable performance on the move. Many campervan water tanks are in stock for fast UK delivery, helping you keep your build or upgrade on track.

Looking to save space?

Want to add an underslung water tank to your build to save crucial space inside the van? Height tends to be the most restrictive measurement here so get in touch with the dimensions of the space envelope beneath your van and we can advise what we have that will make best use of the space. We supply a wide variety of slimline or flat water tanks. To note – unless a water tank is vehicle specific, we cannot supply fitting kits to secure to the underside of the vehicle due to the wide variation of configurations. This make a ‘one-size-fits-all’ kit not possible in this instance.

The Wheel Arch Water Tanks help to utilise wasted space above the wheel arch – perfect for a van conversion where space is at a premium. For larger vehicles with the capable payload, our Baffled Water Tanks range have internal walls to help control the flow of water and therefore improve vehicle manoeuvrability. Moreover, the baffles offer strength to the tank.

Will an underslung tank fit my van?

Vehicle-specific underslung tanks are made for one model, with a matching fitting kit sold alongside. Universal "tank only" underslung tanks don't include fitting kits, because every van's underside is different. Send us the space under your van and we'll suggest one.

Will it fit a left-hand drive van?

Many of our vehicle-specific tanks do, including the VW Transporter 69 litre, the Crafter 180 litre (front-wheel drive) and the Ducato range. A few don't, such as the Crafter 90 litre. The van finder at the top of this page says which, and so does each product page.

What about 4WD or 4Motion vans?

Check before you buy. Some tanks don't fit 4WD, such as the Transporter 69 litre and the Crafter 180 litre, while the Crafter 90 litre has its own RWD / 4WD bracket kit. If you're unsure, call us with your van's details.

Do I need to drill the chassis?

It depends on the van and the kit. Each fitting kit lists what's included on its product page. If you're not sure, call us before you order and we'll talk you through it.

Can you fit it for me?

We supply tanks and fitting kits rather than fitting them. Most kits are a DIY job with basic tools, and any van converter or garage can fit one. We're happy to talk them through it.

Do I need to tell my insurer?

Yes. Tell your insurer about any conversion work, including water tanks.

What is a baffled tank?

Baffles are internal walls that stop water surging when you brake or corner. That improves handling and adds strength to the tank, so they suit larger vans and horseboxes.

Are the tanks safe for drinking water?

Tanks marked potable are suitable for drinking water in their standard colour. Each product page says whether a tank is potable.

Do I need a separate waste water tank?

Most builds have a fresh tank for clean water and a waste (grey) tank for water from the sink and shower. Our fresh + waste kits give you both for popular vans.

How do I measure my space?

Measure the width, depth and height of the space in millimetres, leave room for pipework and fittings, then use the Will it fit search on this page.
