Sustainable Farming Incentive 2026 (Window 2)

The Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) Window 2 offers funding to help farmers improve the sustainability, productivity and environmental performance of their land. Eligible farmers can access payments for a range of actions, including measures that support soil health, water quality, biodiversity and sustainable farming practices.

Status: Applications open on the 22nd September 
Applications Close: Closes when all funds are claimed.

DEFRA Capital Grants 2026 

Funding to help farmers improve water management and sustainability. The Defra Capital Grants scheme provides funding for water infrastructure, rainwater harvesting, livestock systems and environmental improvements.

Status: Applications from 30th July 2026
Applications Close: Closes when all funds are claimed.

Higher Tier Capital Grants

Higher Tier Capital Grants support larger-scale environmental projects that deliver long-term benefits for nature, biodiversity, water quality and habitat restoration. Designed for more complex land management projects, the scheme may include funding for water management infrastructure and other environmental improvements where appropriate.

Status: Open All Year from January 5th 2026

Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL)

Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme supports farmers and land managers within National Parks and National Landscapes to deliver projects that improve nature, climate resilience, public access and sustainable farming. Funding may be available for water management, rainwater harvesting, livestock infrastructure and environmental improvements where they contribute to the objectives of the protected landscape.

Status: Applications Open Now Until March 2029 (Please Note: Applications will close sooner if all funding is allocated.)

Lowland Peat Water Implementation Grant

The Lowland Peat Water Implementation Grant provides funding for projects that restore and improve the management of lowland peat soils through better water level control and sustainable water management. The grant supports practical infrastructure that helps protect peatland habitats, improve environmental outcomes and enhance long-term land resilience.

Status: Open from June 30th 2026 
Applications close: Septemeber 18th 2026

Water Company Catchment Funding 

Water Company Catchment Funding supports farmers, landowners and rural businesses in delivering projects that improve water quality, protect rivers and reduce pollution within drinking water catchments.

Council Climate Action Grants 

Council Climate Action Grants support projects that reduce carbon emissions, improve environmental sustainability and strengthen climate resilience. Funding may be available for rainwater harvesting, water storage, sustainable drainage and other water management projects that benefit local communities. As grant opportunities vary between councils, we recommend checking your local authority’s website to explore funding available in your area.

Farming Equipment and Technology Fund

The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) provides grants to help farmers invest in equipment and technology that can improve productivity, efficiency, animal health and welfare, and environmental sustainability.

Funding can help cover the cost of eligible agricultural equipment and technology, helping farmers modernise their operations and work more efficiently.

Status: Closed 12th May 2026. Claims must be made by 20th January. If you’ve accepted one or more Grant Funding Agreements.
