The Marsh Shallow Ensign 10 Person Sewage Treatment Plant is a low-profile treatment plant for sites where digging deep is difficult or expensive. At only 1.6 metres tall, it suits rocky ground and high water tables, and it handles waste from up to 10 people. That makes it a good fit for a large detached house, or two smaller homes sharing one drain.
How the Shallow Ensign 10 Person Sewage Treatment Plant works
Many treatment plants stand over 2.3 metres high. By contrast, this shallow unit needs a much smaller excavation, so installation is quicker, safer and often cheaper. Treatment inside works in the same way as the standard Ensign, with no internal moving parts.
First, sewage enters the primary settlement chamber, where solids settle and break down. Next, the clarified liquid flows into the aeration chamber. Here, bacteria living on mobile media are fed with air, and they remove the dissolved pollutants. Finally, the treated water passes through a settlement chamber and out to a drainage field or watercourse.
