The Marsh 4,500 Litre Shallow Dig Cesspool stores sewage, grey water or rainwater underground until it is pumped out by a tanker. It holds 4,500 litres (989 gallons), and it is built to BS 4994 and BS EN 976.
Sizing a 4,500 Litre Shallow Dig Cesspool
This tank is smaller than the 18,000 litre minimum that Building Regulations set for a cesspool serving a home. Instead, it suits holding duties for site cabins, garden rooms, grey water or rainwater. Since there is no outlet, it needs emptying by tanker, so a high level alarm is a sensible extra.

Options
Before adding the 4,500 Litre Shallow Dig Cesspool to your basket, choose a deeper inlet if your drain arrives lower than standard, a lining to suit what you store and a high level alarm. The price updates as you pick each option.
Installation
Depending on ground conditions, the tank can be backfilled with granular material or with concrete. However, if the water table rises above the base of the tank at any time of year, it must be set in concrete. The same applies on clay or other ground that does not drain freely. Using the wrong backfill can void the manufacturer’s warranty, so please agree the method with your installer first.
