The 2,700 Litre Septic Tank from GRAF is the smallest tank in the Carat septic range and suits a small home, a holiday cottage or a lodge with up to 4 people. It replaces an old brick or concrete tank, or serves a new building where the ground is suitable for a drainage field.
How a Septic Tank Works
Wastewater from the house flows into the 2,700 litre septic tank, where it slows down. As a result, heavy solids sink to the bottom and form a sludge layer, while fats and lighter matter float to the top. The built-in baffle holds these layers back, so only the settled liquid flows out to the drainage field. Bacteria in the tank also break down part of the sludge over time.
Because the solids build up slowly, the tank needs emptying by a licensed waste carrier from time to time, usually every one to two years depending on use. The access shaft makes this simple, so nobody needs to enter the tank.
Key Features
- 2,700 litre capacity, suitable for up to 4 people
- Built-in baffle that separates solids from the liquid
- Lightweight Carat tank, so you can install it without a crane
- Telescopic dome shaft with 150kg pedestrian lid as standard
- Optional 3.5 tonne traffic lid for driveways
- 15 year tank warranty and 50 year design life
Important: Discharge Rules
In England, a septic tank must not discharge straight into a ditch, stream or other surface water. Instead, the outlet should go to a drainage field (soakaway) that is designed for your ground conditions. If you need to discharge to a watercourse, a sewage treatment plant is the right choice. Therefore, please check the General Binding Rules, or the rules in your part of the UK, before you order.
